Some recommended places in Ladakh:
Silver Cloud Guesthouse - for clean fresh rooms and lovely hosts, great views and some peace and quiet (its about 15 mins walk from Leh). They can also arrange treks there.
The Tibetan Kitchen - best restaurant - great food. It's quite hard to find, set back off the road.
Leh View - rooftop restaurant with decent food and a nice view over the town, great for watching the world go by.
Some Highlights:
Pangong Lake - great day trip in a jeep, its beautiful, but acclimatise first
Climb to the monsatery above Leh
Lamayuru - monastery perched above a small town
The Tibetan markets in Leh - great for souvenirs
