tips for going to the wonder down under!hi everyone! i've been lurking on these boards for a while now, and thought i'd finally join in. i'm planning a trip to australia sometime in 2009 and i'm wondering does anyone have any tips/stories they can share? i found this story http://www.takeoffeh.com/readarticle.php?article=1859 ...what kind of surprises can i expect down there? |

Australian recommendationsIt's been a few years since I travelled around Australia but here were some of my favourite experiences:North Stradbroke Island, just off Brisbane, was a piece of paradise. I recall the ferry took about an hour. Sealrocks, about 2 hours or so drive north of Sydney, has the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen - and we had them pretty much to ourselves! Totally stunning A drive along the Great Ocean Road Sailing in the Whitsundays Sea kayaking off the Mornington Peninsula near Melbourne Walking in the Blue Mountains NP - this area's worth a stay for a night or two. The train from Sydney to Katoomba or Leura is approx 2 hrs and pretty reasonably priced. The views are great and you can also go canyoning. If there's a few of you it's worth hiring a holiday home for a weekend. There are great cafes in both Leura and Katoomba. |
